Tip #23: Fill Your Freezer
Making the purchase of a freezer so you can manage your food shopping and use, can be very economical in the long run, but it is also important to make it as cheap to run as possible.
Thankfully, most of the new models are very energy efficient. You can make your freezer more so by keeping it FULL. If you are slowly filling it with food as your budget allows you can still keep it full to make it more efficient!
Simply save your drink cartons and use them as Ice Packs, as I showed you earlier. When you purchase more food and need the space, simply let these thaw and keep it as emergency water rations (in the basement or back of the pantry or something) or even just throw them out.
I am sharing this as part of Kitchen Tip Tuesdays at Tammy's Recipes.
